Every seven days is devoted to a single word for you to go deeper with:
- Day 1 highlights a scripture that articulates what Jesus says about it
- Day 2 provides a Focus Tip for the week, suggesting how you might activate the word in your daily life
- Days 3-6 allow you to lean in and learn what the word means and how it affects your world
- Day 7 offers a final thought, plus a Breath Prayer to remind your soul who's in charge

Day 1: January 1 - Diligent
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. Proverbs 13:4 ESV
Day 2: January 2
Focus Tip for the Week:
This week, when you find yourself in a hard situation, whisper the word diligence and walk through it - don't run from it. Try to find the meaning behind it and remember Who you are ultimately doing it for.
Day 3: January 3
Did you know that the word diligent comes from the Latin word diligere, which means "to value highly; take delight in"? In English, we often translate this concept to mean "working hard," which is not completely incorrect. The English definition of diligent is "careful and serious in your work, or done in a careful and determined way."
Day 7: January 7
Let's be diligent in what we do today - even in the annoying, mundane, or particularly difficult parts of our work. If we approach work to become more like Jesus, we really can find meaning and delight in all things.
Jesus, help me to be diligent; help me steward life well. Amen.
